Natural wine for genuine people.

We are passionate about wine. We all grew up in the surrounding of Gavi, a village that gives the name to an internationally famous white wine, Cortese di Gavi. This wine is produced in 11 municipalities around the small town of Gavi. However jobs opportunities are scarce in our region and the few young people left do not have the capital to start their own agricultural activities.

We are seeing our villages getting empty due to the lack of work opportunities and entering a vicious cycle, where services gets cut because of lack of population.

Several villages had primary schools in the 80’s today only the primary and secondary schools in Gavi have survived.

We have decided to take a first step to mitigate this issue and repopulate the area. We have realized that the future of work can be rural. Thanks to the opportunities offered by digital technology and telecommunications it is possibile today to redistribute urban jobs into rural areas mitigating urban migration and contributing to rural development.

With Grebano we plan to create a first business who will employ up to 3 full time employees, and about 10 seasonal workers to start with. We hope this will be the first of a serie of successful businesses we will help create in our region with the revenue generated from Grebano vineyards.

Grebano in our dialect it means unsophisticated and rough. It has the g of Gavi and grapes, and it sounds like a sort of grapes, so we have decided to use it to name our vineyards.

Vigna ponessi

We only produce natural wine.

We don’t just want to make wine as most producers do and we won’t produce any conventional Cortese di Gavi, we will pay a tribute to the cortese grapes and make a natural white wine that we have called Scortese. Our production will be limited to natural wine only. What does that mean?

Natural wine is farmed organically (biodynamically), using permaculture and made without adding or removing anything in the cellar. No additives or processing aids are used, and ‘intervention’ in the naturally occurring fermentation process is kept to a minimum. As such neither fining nor (tight) filtration are used. The result is a living wine – wholesome and full of naturally occurring microbiology.

Help us build Grebano and become one of our early founders.

Supporting our crowdfunding initiative you have the opportunity of becoming one of the 2000 only customers in the world who will enjoy 6 bottles of our natural wine in 2021 with the grapes harvested in 2020 a year which will be remembered has a bad year due to the covid-19. Let’s make it together a year worth to remember instead for the start of a successful rural development project.

Crowdfunding is the best way to test our assumptions. Are we able to find natural wine fans or novices out there that not only care about wine but they also want to support a rural development project that aims to bring work opportunities back into abandoned rural areas?

If this speaks to your mind and to your heart we will be happy to have you as one of our exclusive customers. Feel free to choose the perk that best suits your emotional reaction and financial capability.

This is our Macerato. It is made of a mix of 3 grapes variety: moscato, malvasia candia and cortese.

It is kept fermented with its skins in oak barrels for 9 months with a technique called “a cappello sommerso”.
